Our farm is proud to be part of Iowa’s Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program (ILFPA), which aims to make local food more accessible and improve supply chain resilience by partnering with local producers and underserved communities. This program helps state and tribal governments buy and distribute healthy, nutritious, and region-specific foods. The goal is to support feeding programs, food banks, and organizations that serve underserved communities. Besides boosting local food consumption, it also provides economic opportunities for local and socially disadvantaged producers, helping them sell to food access organizations through food hubs and food banks.

At Woodside Acres, we have been working directly with North Iowa Mutual Aid to stock their community freezers with nutrient-dense poultry. This partnership makes our distribution process smooth, ensures we receive a fair price for our products, and delivers high-quality food to those who need and deserve it. Should this program continue, it has the potential to transform the Iowa food system, increasing the share of the farmer’s dollar that goes directly back into their pockets.
